The potato doughnut
Potatoes are one of the
most popular vegetables.
Potatoes were imported
into Europe from America by the Spanish in 1565. It was one of the main food of
the Indians. It is a rich source of vitamin C, and its vitamin A and B content
is significant, too. In the past there were not many potato varieties, but this
has changed today. There are thousands of varieties around the world. Potatoes
are used not only for food purposes, but also for feeding animals.
My favourite dish is potato
doughnut. There is the recipe for it:
1. Heat some milk, dissolve
the sugar in it and crumble the yeast
2. Break through the
boiled potatoes and work together with the flour shifted into the bowl. Add the
milk, egg yolks, oil, salt and knead until smooth.
3. On a floured kneading
board, stretch it to the thickness of a finger and sniff out the potato
doughnuts with a scones 3 cm diameter.
4. Cover and rise for an
hour in a warm place. Fry the risen doughnuts in a large frying pan in plenty
of hot oil.
5. When we bake them, we
turn the small doughnuts most of the time so that both sides are nice red.
6. We take the finished
potato doughnuts on paper towels to get the excess oil off them.
