Christmas
Within
moments, Christmas is here, bringing joy, magic, hope and light into the
darkness. Christmas is 25th December. Christmas is the second largest holiday
in Christianity. We remember the birth of Jesus Christ. People also give presents
each other.
Christmas in
England:
Christmas
preparations will begin as early as October. Doors and windows are decorated
with pine branches, candles, walnuts, hazelnuts, and decorated pine trees are
placed in the rooms. Santa Claus Day on 6th December is not
celebrated. A traditional Christmas lunch consists of turkey stuffed with
chestnuts and vegetables. The most common dessert is Christmas pudding.
26th
December is called Boxing Day. Another unavoidable event of this day is The
Queen’s Christmas Message, a tradition of speech dating back to 1932, broadcasted
by the BBC and watched by most English people.
As Christmas
approaches, people light Advent candles. Their favourite sweet is Christmas
candy. The essence of Christmas is love and that we are together. Kids build
snowmen when there is snow, they bake gingerbread that they decorate. I love
being together at Christmas, baking, cooking and then eating delicious food
then watching a movie.
The cosiest
things are that fire is crackling in the fireplace and snow is falling.
Merry
Christmas for everyone!
