Christmas
in England
In England, Christmas preparations begin as early as
October. The front doors and windows are decorated and by the beginning of
November the streets will be covered with light. Nevertheless, on December 6,
no one expects a big-bearded figure to pack his tattered boots while wintering
on the islands, as St Nicholas is not celebrated in England.
Kids usually spend Christmas
Eve with friends and then before going to bed the kids hang out socks by the
fireplace to fill it with small presents, sweets.
The celebration of Christmas begins with Christmas Day
on 25th December. English people go to church on December 25th and give each
other presents in the morning.
The highlight of lunch is the
delicious Christmas pudding.
The Queen’s traditional
Christmas speech is also a timeless event.
26th December is Boxing Day,
the day after Christmas, at that time staff istraditionally gifted.
