Thanksgiving
day
Thanksgiving
is one of most celebrated holidays in the United States. In Canada,
Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October. In America, it is celebrated on
the fourth Thursday in November. A lot of people left Europe and came to settle
in Canada and America. These people were called „pilgrims”. They had nothing.
So they planted seeds they produced their own food. Luckily, they actually were
able to grow plants and they gave thanks for the harvest. It was kind of a
religious thing that they would give thanks to God for giving them food. Today,
they eat food that is grown ready specifically in October. For example: squash
or turnip, pumpkin. The main food that they have in Thanksgiving is a big
turkey with vegetables and gravy. They play a lot of football matches on this
day where families go out together to cheer for their favourites. Every year
before Thanksgiving, the U.S. president pardons a turkey.
